About Galactic Farms
Galactic Farms is an Urban Farming destination and educational center operating in Missoula, Montana since January 2015. Our mission is to exemplify how food can be grown in places where you least expect it.
Jeff Pernell found controlled environment agriculture in 2008 while helping his Montessori middle school students design their submissions for the Future Cities competition. This turned out to be his favorite thing to do and he has been continually building innovative systems since then.
In 2011, his home system caught the eye of his friend, neighbor, and nutrient cycling enthusiast, Melissa Moore. Things soon became more interesting…
As their relationship grew, so did the nebula that would soon coalesce into a lifestyle philosophy and eventually business entity called Galactic Farms.
